Chateau Charente has six rooms across three tiers: Deluxe Suites, Suites, and Rooms. Each is private, fully inclusive, and distinct in its own character. The same meals, the same wine, the same artist, the same week. What differs is size and outlook.

Deluxe Penthouse Suite

DELUXE SUITE

ABOUT THIS SUITE

What painters remember about this room

Original parquet floors, a grand stone fireplace, and west-facing windows. The Deluxe Penthouse Suite is a room that feels both generous and deeply restful.

The sitting area earns the name suite. It is somewhere to arrive at the end of a painting day. Two armchairs, the light fading, nowhere to be.

The outlook is extraordinary. The Chateau parklands and pool stretch out below. On the horizon, the medieval steeple of the 11th-century Eglise Saint-Matias rises above the rooftops of the town.

Each evening the light turns golden. The sky does something worth watching.

  • The view: parklands, pool, and the ancient steeple of Eglise Saint-Matias on the horizon
  • Evening sunsets: the room faces west. The sky puts on a show every single night
  • The fireplace: a grand stone original that anchors the room in the most beautiful colours
  • The sitting area: somewhere to read, rest, and decompress between painting days. For two people sharing, it gives the room real breathing room
  • The configuration: reconfigures to twin singles for two painters sharing, or made up as a king for solo travellers and couples

The most beautiful sunset views.

Deluxe Forest View Suite

DELUXE SUITE

Why guests choose this room

Original wooden floors, a marble fireplace, and ceilings that reach three and a half metres. The Deluxe Forest View Suite has the quiet confidence of a space that has always been beautiful and knows it.

Large windows look out over the towering trees. The light through the trees is soft and shifting all day. In the early morning, when the sun rises through the bathroom shutters, it is something else entirely.

Two armchairs in a private sitting area give the room its ease. Somewhere to sit with a coffee, to read, to do nothing in particular.

The private ensuite is calm and uncluttered: a walk-in shower, bathtub, and WC.

  • Morning light: the most beautiful sunrise in the Chateau, coming in through the shutters each morning
  • The forest outlook: soft, dappled light through the trees from first light to last
  • The ceilings: three and a half metres, with all the breathing room that brings
  • The sitting area: two armchairs, a seating area, and no reason to rush anywhere.
  • The configuration: reconfigures to twin singles for two painters sharing, or made up as a king for solo travellers and couples

Koi Pond View Suite

SUITE

ABOUT THIS SUITE

Original wooden floors and an ornate marble fireplace give the suite its character. Ceilings that reach three and a half metres, and windows that take full advantage of the southern aspect, give it its air. This is a room that feels both considered and completely unhurried.

The light follows the sun from morning through to afternoon, filling the room with a warm, natural glow that shifts slowly through the day.

A small table with two chairs sits quietly in the room. Somewhere to have a coffee before the day begins, or a glass of something at the end of it.

The open-plan layout means the suite flows freely between sleeping and living space. The bespoke stone ensuite offers a calm, private space at the end of each day.

Because the suite is open plan with no door to the ensuite, this room is best enjoyed as a private space. It works beautifully for a solo painter or a couple.

  • The view: the ornamental koi pond and gardens, framed by generous south-facing windows
  • The light: warm and abundant from morning through to mid-afternoon
  • The fireplace: ornate marble, original to the Chateau, and the heart of the room
  • The ensuite: a spacious, beautifully finished stone bathroom, private and serene
  • The layout: open-plan and unhurried, with space that feels generous rather than divided

The Koi Pond View Suite looks south over the ornamental pond and garden.
